So you're thinking of taking part in a riot

Don't let me stop you. If you really want to take part in a riot, by, say, throwing a stone or two in the midst of a large crowd so no one will ever know what stone came from whom, and then you want to join an anti-police chant when the boys in blue show up .. go for it.

Just a thought, though. Before you're the guy who most enthusiatically costumes himself for the part, who stands out and gets camera time, who becomes the public face of the riot ...

Give that an extra minute or two of thought, okay?

John Searle has become the object of accusations of improper conduct. These accusations even have some people in the world of academic philosophy saying that instructors in that world should try to avoid teaching Searle's views. That is an odd contention, and has given rise to heated exchanges in certain corners of the blogosphere.
